Tannins—naturally occurring compounds from grape skins—give red wine its drying sensation and ageing potential.
Red wine is produced all over the world, with famous regions including Bordeaux, Tuscany, Rioja, and Napa Valley. It’s often aged in oak barrels, which can add vanilla, toast, or smoky undertones.
