Veneto is known for its wide range of wine styles, from sparkling Prosecco to rich Amarone and mineral driven Soave. The region produces more DOC wine than any other in Italy and is celebrated for both traditional and modern winemaking. Its diversity comes from varied climates, altitudes and grape varieties.
Key white grapes include Glera, Garganega, Trebbiano di Soave and Pinot Grigio. Important red grapes include Corvina, Rondinella, Molinara, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Indigenous varieties such as Raboso, Vespaiola and Tocai Rosso also play a significant role in local styles.
Veneto wines vary widely. Prosecco is fresh and fruity with bright acidity, Soave is crisp and mineral driven, and Amarone is full bodied with flavours of dried fruit, chocolate and spice due to the appassimento method. Valpolicella wines range from light and fruity to rich and complex depending on style.

Veneto’s terroir ranges from cool Alpine foothills to warm coastal plains.
