An authentic Veronese Appassimento crafted predominantly from Corvina and its classic Valpolicella companions. This is a rich, approachable red, combining vibrant fruit with the characteristic depth and smooth texture brought by the drying process.

Meet the producer
Founded in 1892 by Giacomo Montresor, this historic Verona estate has long been recognised for producing wines that express the heart of Veneto. Montresor combines traditional winemaking techniques with a modern sensibility, resulting in a portfolio that ranges from authentic classics to contemporary styles, all rooted in the region’s viticultural heritage.

Production
The wine is made from Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella grapes grown in hillside vineyards north of Verona. After harvest, the grapes undergo appassimento – the traditional drying technique typical of the Veneto – for 30 days before vinification. This process concentrates sugars and flavours, lending the wine its signature richness and supple texture. Following fermentation, the wine is aged for 6 months in oak, striking a fine balance between fruit expression and gentle complexity.

Tasting notes
Bright aromas of red berries, ripe black cherries and a touch of sweet spice. The palate reveals the fresh cherry and bramble fruit typical of Valpolicella, enriched with the extra weight and roundness of Appassimento. Soft, supple tannins carry through to a finish of delicate sweetness balanced by fresh acidity, leaving the wine both smooth and moreish.

Food match
Perfect with barbecued meats, slow-cooked stews or caramelised meat dishes. It also pairs well with bold, strong-flavoured cheeses.
