Malvasia typically shows flavours of peach, apricot, melon and citrus with notes of honey, blossom and gentle spice. It often has moderate acidity and a rounded texture. Depending on the style, Malvasia can be fresh and aromatic, rich and sweet or full bodied with herbal complexity.

Malvasia is grown across the Mediterranean, especially in Italy, Spain, Portugal and Greece. Key regions include Sicily, the Canary Islands, Friuli, Lazio and Madeira. It thrives in warm climates and coastal areas, producing a wide range of styles from dry whites to fortified wines.

Malvasia refers to a large family of related grape varieties rather than a single grape. Examples include Malvasia Bianca, Malvasia di Candia, Malvasia delle Lipari and Malvasia Fina. Each has its own character, but all share aromatic richness and Mediterranean heritage.
