Semillon Wines

Semillon typically shows flavours of lemon, apple, pear and soft stone fruit with notes of honey, lanolin and gentle herbs. Young styles are fresh and citrus driven, while aged versions develop deeper honeyed and toasty complexity. Its texture is smooth with moderate acidity.

Semillon is widely grown in Bordeaux, where it forms the backbone of dry whites and sweet wines such as Sauternes. It is also a key variety in Australia, especially in the Hunter Valley and Margaret River. Smaller plantings exist in South Africa, Chile and the United States.
