Boekenhoutskloof The Goldmine White is a poised and expressive Cape blend that captures the luminosity and mineral edge of South Africa’s Western Cape, crafted with precision and pedigree.

This inaugural vintage is the white counterpart to Boekenhoutskloof’s iconic Chocolate Block, drawing fruit from select vineyard sites across the Western Cape. The blend includes Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay, Semillon, and Viognier, each vinified separately to highlight their individual character. Some parcels are aged in French oak for richness, while others see time in concrete or amphorae to preserve purity and texture. The result is a wine that reflects the diversity of the Cape’s terroir with elegance and depth.

Winemaking

Each grape variety is handled independently, with fermentation tailored to its profile. Oak ageing is applied selectively to build structure and complexity, while concrete and amphorae contribute freshness and mouthfeel. The final blend is assembled to balance vibrancy with layered richness, showcasing the winemaker’s skill in harmonising diverse components.

Tasting Notes

The wine pours a bright straw-yellow with golden highlights. The nose is fresh and intricate, revealing aromas of quince, poached pear, and nectarine, alongside bruised apple, chamomile, and a whisper of baking spice. On the palate, it glides between vibrancy and depth, offering ripe stone fruit and citrus framed by textured Semillon, lifted Chenin Blanc, and floral Viognier. The finish is long, seamless, and quietly luxurious, with a pithy, slightly saline mouthfeel and hints of ginger and cinnamon.

Food Pairing

Pairs beautifully with grilled sea bass, roast chicken with lemon and herbs, creamy pasta with mushrooms, and soft cheeses. Also ideal for elegant dinners and special occasions.
