Southern Right Sauvignon Blanc is a refined, origin-driven white wine from South Africa’s Walker Bay region, crafted to express terroir over varietal intensity.

Southern Right’s Sauvignon Blanc is made with fruit sourced from three of the Cape’s coolest maritime-influenced regions: Hemel-en-Aarde, Walker Bay, and Elgin. The grapes are grown in a mix of iron-rich clay, granite, and sandstone soils, each contributing distinct elements to the wine’s complexity. Clay soils add structure and depth, granite brings aromatic lift and openness, while sandstone imparts bright tension and saline minerality. This careful blending of site character results in a wine that favours subtlety, texture, and balance over overt pungency.

Winemaking

Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks to preserve freshness and purity. The winemaking approach is deliberately restrained, allowing the natural character of the vineyard sites to shine through. No oak is used, and the wine is bottled with minimal intervention to maintain clarity and precision.

Tasting Notes

Southern Right Sauvignon Blanc 2024 shows a brilliant straw-yellow colour with green reflections. The nose is restrained yet expressive, offering aromas of citrus peel, fresh herbs, and white flowers, with a dusty mineral edge. On the palate, it is crisp and elegant, with ripe acidity and a fine, tensile texture. Flavours of grapefruit, lemon zest, and subtle vegetal notes lead to a long, savoury finish with a touch of saline complexity.

Food Pairing

Ideal as an aperitif or paired with raw seafood, fresh spring salads, pickled fish, marinated vegetables, and soft goat’s cheese.
