An exceptional, elegant white from the innovative Donovan Rall, crafted from a mountain-grown blend of six varieties. Clean, bright, and complex, this wine is a showcase of Stellenbosch and select Swartland, Franschhoek, and Paarl fruit.

Meet the producer
Vuurberg (‘Feer-berg’, meaning ‘Fire Mountain’) is a boutique, garage-style winery in the Western Cape, dedicated to meticulous vineyard management and small-batch winemaking.

Production
The blend consists of Chenin Blanc (50%), Viognier (20%), Grenache Blanc (10%), and smaller parcels of Semillon, Verdelho, and Roussanne. Grapes are picked early and processed using a combination of crushing, destemming, or whole-bunch pressing. All varietals undergo wild fermentation and mature for 9 months on fermentation lees in French barriques and 400-litre barrels (25% new), with full malolactic fermentation. The wine is coarsely filtered prior to bottling.

Tasting notes
Clean, bright, and sophisticated. Aromas and flavours of fresh stone fruit, white spice, and pithy minerality are underpinned by stony acidity, culminating in a persistent, elegant finish.

Ideal with fresh crayfish, sole meunière, or simply grilled and salted turbot.
