Utiel Requena wine is shaped by high altitude vineyards, hot summers, cold winters and limestone rich soils that help Bobal and other varieties develop freshness, colour and structure. This creates expressive wines linked to Spain’s inland Mediterranean terroirs.
Bobal dominates the region, producing reds and rosés with bright acidity and deep colour. Tempranillo, Garnacha, Macabeo and Sauvignon Blanc also thrive, offering a wide range of Spanish styles.
Bobal is native to the region and excels in its dry, high altitude conditions, giving wines with vibrant fruit, firm tannins and natural freshness. Its revival has helped define Utiel Requena’s identity.
Many Bobal based reds age beautifully, gaining savoury depth and complexity. Structured blends and some whites can also mature well thanks to their acidity and concentration.
Bobal pairs well with grilled meats, stews and rustic Spanish dishes, while rosés suit tapas and lighter fare. Whites complement seafood, salads and fresh Mediterranean cuisine, reflecting the region’s bright, versatile style.
