Feuerheerd's was founded in 1815 by German trader Dietrich Matthias Feuerheerd in Oporto, and became celebrated in England for its Vintage Ports, known as Anchor Ports after the brand's distinctive logo. Today, head winemaker Alvaro van Zeller of the Van Zeller Wine Collection continues this tradition with Douro wines of exceptional quality. The key to this Reserva is the ageing: 12 months in barrels previously used for Vintage Port, which imparts a smoother, rounder, and more luxurious texture while allowing the five traditional Douro varietals to express their natural complexity and depth. This is over 200 years of Port house craftsmanship in a single bottle.

Vineyard and Production

Blended from five traditional Douro varietals: Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Touriga Franca, Tinta Barroca, and Tinto Cao. The wine is aged for 12 months in barrels previously used for Vintage Port, developing a smoother, rounder texture and greater complexity while retaining the depth and character of the Douro Valley. Winemaker: Alvaro van Zeller. ABV: 14%.

Tasting Notes

Elegant and deeply flavoured, Feuerheerd's Reserva opens with aromas of black fruits and refined spice. The palate is smooth and velvety with concentrated dark fruit, layers of complexity from the Port barrel ageing, and a long, luxurious finish that speaks clearly of its Douro origins.

Perfect Pairings

A natural match for roasted meats, grilled game, rich stews, and mature cheeses. Also excellent alongside slow-braised lamb, beef short ribs, and classic Portuguese dishes such as cozido a portuguesa.
