Meet the producer
Founded by the Konchosvilli family, whose history in winemaking in Kakheti dates back to 1737, Bedoba embraces a unique blend of traditional Georgian methods and modern winemaking. Winemakers Nugzar Ksovreli and Thierry Fontannaz craft wines that highlight the country’s indigenous Saperavi and other native varieties, honouring centuries of viticultural heritage while practicing sustainable and organic viticulture.

Vineyard
Grapes are sourced from 30-year-old vines in the Kvareli and Kindzmarauli appellations along the Duruji River valley, on southern slopes of the Caucasus Mountains at elevations over 400 metres. Soils are rich in black shale, providing freshness, soft tannins, and concentration of flavour. Hand-harvesting and careful sorting ensure only the best grapes are selected.

Winemaking
A small percentage of grapes undergo whole-bunch fermentation, while others are left to dry naturally on the vine until November to concentrate flavours. Fermentation occurs in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks and traditional clay qvevri, followed by aging in a combination of second- and third-use American oak barrels and 5,000-litre wooden vats. The final blend is assembled from tank, vat, oak, and qvevri components, with additional bottle aging to achieve a seamless texture.
