A Legacy of Craft and Curiosity

Niepoort’s cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia hold more than a century and a half of knowledge, passed down through generations. The family’s early reputation was built on exceptional Colheita and aged tawny Ports, but in recent decades they have become equally celebrated for their Vintage and LBV Ports, as well as their pioneering work with Douro table wines. The purchase of key vineyards such as Quinta de Nápoles and Quinta do Carril strengthened their connection to the Douro’s diverse terroirs, allowing them to craft wines that express both place and personality. Niepoort’s philosophy blends respect for tradition with a desire to explore, resulting in Ports that feel both timeless and refreshingly individual.

A Style Defined by Purity and Precision

Niepoort’s Ports are known for their balance, freshness and clarity of fruit. The house avoids heaviness, instead favouring wines with energy, lift and a sense of finesse. Fermentations are carefully managed, extraction is gentle and ageing is tailored to each style, whether in large wooden vats, small casks or bottle. The result is a portfolio that ranges from vibrant, youthful expressions to deeply complex, long‑aged wines, all united by a signature elegance.

The Identity of Niepoort

Niepoort stands apart for its ability to honour tradition while embracing innovation. From the expressive clarity of the Fine White to the depth and structure of the LBV, the wines reflect a house that values craftsmanship, curiosity and a deep connection to the Douro. Each bottle carries the imprint of six generations of family dedication and a philosophy that blends heritage with creativity, making Niepoort one of the most compelling and influential producers in Portugal today.

Niepoort Wines

Ruby Dum

Ruby Dum is one half of Niepoort’s whimsical “twin” Ports, inspired by Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee. It is a youthful, fruit‑driven ruby Port made from the same base wine as Tawny Dee but aged in large vats to preserve freshness and colour. Expect vibrant dark berries, cherries and a touch of spice, with a smooth, juicy palate and a lively finish. It is approachable, expressive and perfect for relaxed drinking.

Tawny Dee

Tawny Dee is the twin to Ruby Dum, crafted from the same lot of wine but aged in smaller casks to encourage oxidation and develop tawny complexity. It shows notes of dried fruit, nuts, caramel and gentle spice, with a silky texture and a warm, mellow finish. It is charming, balanced and a wonderful introduction to the world of tawny Port.

White Rabbit

White Rabbit is Niepoort’s playful dry white Port, made from traditional Douro white varieties and aged in oak to add subtle complexity. It offers citrus, almond, honey and floral notes with a crisp, refreshing palate. Served chilled or mixed with tonic, it is one of the most versatile and enjoyable white Ports available.

Colheita

Niepoort is renowned for its Colheitas—single‑harvest tawny Ports aged for extended periods in cask. These wines develop extraordinary depth, with flavours of dried fruit, caramel, spice, citrus peel and toasted nuts. Each Colheita reflects the character of its vintage, offering a unique snapshot of time shaped by decades of slow, careful ageing.

Senior Tawny

Senior Tawny is a refined, approachable reserve tawny with a distinctive moustache on the label—a nod to its playful personality. It shows a harmonious blend of dried fruit, nuts, caramel and gentle spice, with a smooth, elegant finish. It is a beautifully balanced tawny that sits between youthful freshness and aged complexity.
