Moving away from heavy, over-oaked styles, this bottling represents the modern South African movement toward fresh, floral, and pure expressions of Pinotage, highlighting bright fruit character and delicate spice.

Vineyard & Production

The grapes are hand-harvested from mature, dry-farmed bush vine blocks across the Swartland. At the winery, a portion of the fruit is fermented as whole clusters, while the rest is gently destemmed into open-top fermenters. Spontaneous fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts, accompanied by light manual punch-downs to ensure delicate extraction of colour and fine-grained tannins. The wine matures for several months in seasoned French oak barrels and concrete vessels before being bottled with minimal sulfur additions.

Tasting Notes

In the glass, it presents a radiant ruby colour. The nose is lifted and aromatic, bursting with scents of fresh red cherry, wild raspberry, and pomegranate, interwoven with subtle hints of rooibos tea, dried herbs, white pepper, and crushed stone. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, bright, and supple, delivering juicy red fruit flavours supported by fine, chalky tannins and a lively beam of natural acidity that leads to a clean, elegant finish.
