Torres Purgatori Red is a rich and expressive wine from the Costers del Segre DO, crafted from Garnacha and Cariñena grapes. With roots in one of Catalonia’s most historic vineyards, this wine reflects the unique Mediterranean terroir with elegance, depth, and character.

Viticulture

Grapes are sourced from vineyards that benefit from the region’s warm, dry climate and challenging soils. These conditions, combined with careful vineyard management, produce grapes with intense concentration and expressive aromatic potential.

Winemaking

The wine undergoes 7–10 days of skin contact before alcoholic fermentation in cement and stainless steel tanks at 22°C. Malolactic fermentation occurs entirely in the barrel. Ageing takes place for 15–18 months in 100% oak barrels, with 30% being new French Nevers oak. The wine was bottled in May 2022, unfiltered, and ready to enjoy upon release.

Tasting Notes

Els Desterrats Red 2020 shows an intense cherry red colour. The nose offers a seductive bouquet of red roses, black cherry jam, and Mediterranean spice notes, including clove, pine, carob, and dried fruits. The palate is warm and nervy, with a vibrant, lively finish that showcases its fine structure.

Food Pairing

Pairs beautifully with grilled meats, roasted vegetables, stews, and mature cheeses.
