El Enemigo was born in 2009 as a joint passion project between Alejandro Vigil, chief winemaker at Catena Zapata, and Adrianna Catena. The collaboration brings together decades of winemaking expertise and deep knowledge of Mendoza's finest high-altitude terroirs to create wines of exceptional quality and character.

Vineyard & Terroir

Grapes are sourced from Mendoza's Gualtallary sub-region at 1,400-1,500 metres above sea level. The vineyards benefit from cool nights and plenty of sunshine, which ensures evenly ripe grapes while retaining the freshness and natural acidity that makes high-altitude Argentine Chardonnay so distinctive.

Production

The wine is aged for 10 months in old oak barrels. This distinctive process gives the Chardonnay striking notes of bitter almonds and dried fruit along with ripe tropical fruit notes from the grape variety itself, creating remarkable complexity and character.

Striking notes of bitter almonds and dried fruit along with ripe tropical fruit on the nose. On the palate there are savoury notes of cream and toasted nuts along with peach and apricot which linger long on the tongue. Complex, characterful, and beautifully balanced.
