Meet the Producer

Bodegas Ontañón, a 5th generation family-owned winery in Rioja Baja (now Rioja Oriental), is led by Raquel and Rubén Ontañón. The winery combines traditional winemaking with modern techniques, producing high-quality, approachable wines that express the unique character of the Rioja region.

Production

Made from 100% Viura grapes, grown at 400 metres above sea level in Rioja Oriental. The average vine age is 20 years, with 80% trellised and 20% bush-trained vines. Soils are clay and stone with some sandy areas. Grapes are crushed and chilled before temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel, preserving freshness and varietal character.

Tasting Notes

A fresh and aromatic Viura with lifted floral and citrus aromas. The palate shows orchard fruits, ripe melon, and zesty acidity, finishing crisp and clean.
