Speyside Single Malt Whisky

Speyside single malt whisky is a style of Scotch whisky produced in the Speyside region of north-eastern Scotland, an area surrounding the River Spey that’s home to the highest concentration of distilleries in the country—over 50, including iconic names like Glenfiddich, The Glenlivet, Macallan, and Balvenie. These whiskies are made from 100% malted barley at a single distillery, using traditional pot stills and aged for a minimum of three years in oak casks.

Speyside malts are renowned for their elegant, approachable flavour profiles, often featuring fruity, floral, and sweet notes such as apple, pear, honey, vanilla, and spice. Unlike Islay whiskies, which are known for heavy peat and smoke, Speyside malts tend to be light and refined, though some distilleries like BenRiach and Mortlach produce more robust or sherried styles.
