Independent, family-owned, sustainable distillery
Family-owned, Diplomatico has been producing the highest quality rums from a combination of sugar cane honey and molasses since 1959. Diplomatico controls its production process from field to bottle with a care for the local environment and its people and has been awarded for its sustainable practices.
Distillation & The Art of Blending
Diplomatico utilises a range of different stills to create 3 distinctly different rum profiles, Pot Stills from Scotland, Barbet Column from France and the Batch Kettle from Canada. Diplomatico Planas is made up of 50% heavy Pot Still rums, aged for up to 6 years which gives great texture and complexity.
Sustainable
In 2009, DUSA received the ISO 14001 certification for environmental awareness which is renewed every 2 years. Diplomatico have made a commitment to the environment and have put several sustainable practices into place, in which; 100% liquid waste is used as organic fertiliser on the cane fields, and 100% solid waste is recycled. They have also halved their water consumption.
Ron de Venezuela - DOC
Venezuela received its DOC in 2003, which sets out rules and regulations to protect the production of rum in the country. You must use 100% Venezuelan sugarcane, bottle between 40-50% and the rum must be matured in white oak casks for a minimum of 2 years to be called 'Ron de Venezuela'.
Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva
Diplomático Reserva Exclusiva is a truly exquisite and luxurious Venezuelan sipping rum created at the foot of the Andes Mountains in Venezuela.
Reserva Exclusiva is created from a blend of 20% light rums and 80% heavy pot still rums. This gives it a rich, velvety texture and makes it the perfect after- dinner sipper.
A blend of exclusive rum reserves aged for up to 12 years in a variety of cask types. It has notes of dark chocolate, coffee, orange peel, spiced fruit cake and liquorice.

This gives it its rich velvety texture and a moreish quality that makes it the perfect after dinner sipper.
Enjoy Diplomático Reserva Exclusiva neat or on the rocks with a small piece of dark chocolate and a slice of orange. The chocolate and orange complement the flavours and textures of the rum as you gradually taste them side by side.
Diplomatico Mantuano
Diplomático Mantuano (meaning “Nobleman”) is an authentic blend of sugar cane honey and molasses-based rums created at the foot of the Andes Mountains in Venezuela.
Aged for up to eight years in the tropical climate of the Caribbean, with notes of dried plums, toffee, cinnamon, nutmeg and tropical fruits, Diplomático Mantuano is designed for mixing and sipping alike.
From a classic pot still, to the unique Batch Kettle and the lighter distillates from the Barbet Column, the rums are expertly created by the Master Blenders. Mantuano contains aged components from all three of these stills which results in an easy drinking rum that enhances any cocktail.
Enjoy Diplomatico Mantuano with ginger ale or stirred down in a rum Negroni by pairing 30ml Diplomatico Mantuano with 30ml Cocchi Vermouth di Torino and 30ml Campari in a rocks glass over ice and garnishing with an orange wedge.
Diplomatico Planas
An unusual “white” rum, Diplomático Planas is aged in oak casks for up to six years and is charcoal filtered to remove the colour, resulting in a smooth, flavourful rum.
Diplomatico Planas is surprisingly intense for a white rum with plenty of rich flavours. Fresh and tropical aromas of ground coffee and coconut, with citrus zest, toffee and marshmallow. The oily texture and well balanced sweetness mean this is delicious to sip neat and mix in cocktails.
Named after the distillery’s location, at the foothills of the Andes mountains. Diplomático Planas is made from both sugar cane honey and molasses and distilled using a multitude of different stills, which each give different flavour profiles. The high percentage of aromatic heavy rum brings added complexity and body to Planas.
Diplomatico Planas is ideal for upgrading classic white rum cocktails like Daiquiri, Piña Colada or Espresso Martini. It’s also perfect for pairing with a zesty ceviche or fresh seafood.
When creating Planas, Diplomatico wanted to shake up the ‘White’ Rum category and change preconceptions by releasing a complex aged sipping rum that also happens to be colourless. The combination of a high percentage of heavy pot still and bottling at a 47% abv, the creamy coconut, vanilla and tropical fruit notes shine though when mixing too.
Diplomatico Seleccion de Familia
Diplomático Selección de Familia is an exceptional, super-premium rum celebrating the brand’s expertise, heritage and provenance. The rum is silky, full bodied and complex, perfect for sipping.
Primarily distilled in copper pot stills combined with batch kettle and column distillation, the rums are aged for up to 12 years in American white oak, ex-Bourbon and ex-Sherry casks.
It shows aromas of sugar cane, honey and red fruits followed by delicate spices, oak and toffee notes for a well-rounded and long finish.

Diplomatico Rum Mule
The Moscow mule was originally prepared with vodka. It was one of the favorites in the top end bars across the world in the 1950’s because of its smooth yet strong character. By making a twist on this classic with Diplomático Mantuano, that brings a diverse, smooth and enjoyable balance.
- 50ml Mantuano Rum
- 100ml Ginger beer
- 10ml Lime juice
- Garnish with a mint leaf and wedge of lime
Diplomatico Old Fashioned
You’ll be delighted at how delicious the Old Fashioned tastes when prepared with Reserva Exclusiva. It almost feels like the foundations of the Old Fashioned were designed with this rum in mind. An amazing blend of rich, bitter and citrus makes our rum version a go-to for all Old Fashioned aficionados.
- 50ml Mantuano Rum
- 5ml Sugar syrup
- 3 Large dashes of bitters
- Garnish with a twist of orange peel
Diplomatico Orange Cocoa Ritrual
While the orange provides the freshness, sweetness and acidity, highlighting the orange notes found in Reserva Exclusiva; the cocoa, raw and powerful, is highlighting its complexity. Its slightly bitter notes will delightfully contrast with the sweetness of this exceptional rum for an outstanding tasting experience.
- 60ml Reserva Exclusiva Rum
- 1 piece of orange
- 3 Large dashes of bitters
- Raw cocoa powder unsweetened
Method: Take your orange, cut it in half, cut a slice (around 6mm) and cut it into 4 identical quarters. Pour a teaspoon of cocoa into a small cup, take the 4 orange quarter-slices and dip one side in the cocoa powder. Take some rectangular slate, and place your glass on the left. On the right side of the plate, arrange nicely the 4 orange quarter-slices. You can delicately drop some cocoa powder next to the oranges for those who want more cocoa!
