Malamado is Argentina’s first fortified Malbec, crafted in the style of fine Port but with a distinctly Mendoza character. Deep purple in colour, it reveals aromas of ripe plums, dried figs, and roasted nuts. Sweet, rich, and complex on the palate, it shows layers of cinnamon spice and toasted almonds with a long, warming finish.

Meet the producer
Zuccardi is one of Argentina’s most pioneering wine estates, renowned for its innovation and exploration of terroir across Mendoza. Their Malamado range reflects a creative approach, reinterpreting traditional European styles with Argentina’s flagship grape varieties. Sustainability and precision winemaking remain central to Zuccardi’s philosophy.

Vineyard
The Malbec grapes are sourced from alluvial soils in the Uco Valley, one of Mendoza’s most celebrated wine-growing regions. High altitudes, sunny days, and cool nights produce concentrated fruit with freshness and balance—an ideal foundation for this fortified wine.

Winemaking
The wine is produced using classic fermentation methods, allowing natural residual sugar to remain before being fortified. It is then aged for just over two years in seasoned French oak, adding layers of complexity, spice, and texture.

Tasting notes
A soft purple hue leads to aromas of overripe plums, dried figs, and walnuts. The palate is rich and sweet, with warming notes of cinnamon, toasted almonds, and subtle oak influence. Velvety and lingering, it is a distinctive Argentine alternative to Tawny Port.
