Wray & Nephew Overproof Rum is an absolute legend in its home country of Jamaica. Jamaicans love a tot of rum and this accounts for 90% of all rum drunk on the island. Pretty impressive considering the other quality rums made there. Outside of Jamaica, it's also the number one bestselling overproof rum in the entire world. Again, this is an impressive feat considering the competition. This rum is made distilled at the J Wray & Nephew distillery who are also responsible for the production of Appleton rum, Koko Kanu and Blackwell rum.

So what does this strong spirit bring to the table? There's a surprising amount of fruit on the nose and the palate along with brown sugar and tropical spices. It's slightly spirity to taste but that shouldn't really be a surprise at 64% ABV. This was never distilled to be drunk straight and it really shines when combined with a mixer or in a cocktail. A mojito or rum based caipirinha are simple serves that really bring the layered depths of this rum to the fore. It's rich, banana flavour takes you straight to the Caribbean.
