Vistalba, founded by Carlos Pulenta in Luján de Cuyo, Mendoza, is known for producing wines that express the character of estate-grown fruit through careful blending and traditional winemaking. The “Corte” series represents Vistalba’s philosophy of assembling Bordeaux-inspired blends that highlight Mendoza’s terroir, structure, and elegance.

Vineyards

Corte B is sourced from estate vineyards in Vistalba, one of Mendoza’s historic premium districts. The area benefits from high altitude, alluvial soils, and significant diurnal temperature variation, allowing grapes to ripen fully while retaining freshness. old-vine plantings of Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon contribute depth, concentration, and balance.

Winemaking

Corte B is a blend typically dominated by Malbec with a significant contribution from Cabernet Sauvignon (exact percentages may vary slightly by vintage). The wine is aged in French oak barrels to develop complexity, texture, and aromatic refinement while preserving fruit purity. The 2018 vintage—considered one of Mendoza’s best of the decade—showcased exceptional ripeness, precision, and natural balance.

Tasting Note

The 2018 Corte B displays deep, vibrant colour and a generous aromatic profile of black cherries, plums, cassis, and hints of violet. Subtle layers of cocoa, tobacco leaf, cedar, and baking spices come from refined oak ageing. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied yet smooth, with ripe tannins, concentrated dark fruit, and excellent mid-palate depth. A thread of freshness lifts the wine, leading to a long, persistent finish marked by savoury notes and mineral tension.
