Certified organic, Cantine Rallo produces expressive wines that rank among the finest in western Sicily, including crisp Catarrattos and fragrant Nero d’Avolas from their hillside vineyards. The family’s vineyards are spread across Alcamo (Catarratto, Nero d’Avola), Marsala (Grillo), and Pantelleria (Zibbibo), with grapes typically harvested early to preserve freshness, vibrancy, and aromatic purity. The Vicoletto project highlights the elegance and personality of Catarratto grown on Alcamo’s elevated, sandy hills, benefiting from cooler temperatures and pronounced diurnal shifts.

Viticulture

The Vicoletto vines are sustainably and organically farmed, continuing over 300 years of viticultural tradition in Alcamo. Grapes are hand-harvested in the early morning to capture their delicate aromas and maintain natural freshness, with a focus on slow, balanced ripening away from the island’s intense heat.

Winemaking

Grapes are gently pressed, with 90% fermented off skins in stainless steel and 10% undergoing 12 days of skin-contact fermentation. Both portions ferment naturally using indigenous yeasts. After fermentation, the skin-contact fraction is blended back, and the wine is bottled unfiltered, unfined, and without stabilisation or added sulphur, reflecting a true minimal-intervention style.

Tasting Note

Pale orange with a slight haze from its natural winemaking process, Vicoletto delivers vibrant aromas of citrus, grapefruit, crisp apple, and white-fleshed fruits. The palate is bright and lively, complemented by subtle Mediterranean herbs and a refreshing acidity that gives the wine elegance and lift.

Food Matching

Serve lightly chilled to around 14°C. Perfect with Sicilian pasta asciutta, bolognaise, or pane e panelle (chickpea fritters).
