Description
Trevibban Mill Multi-Vintage Pinot Noir is a characterful, highly expressive red wine crafted in the lush rolling hills of Padstow in North Cornwall. Produced by Engin and Liz Mumcuoglu at Trevibban Mill, an eco-conscious, family-run vineyard committed to sustainable and organic farming practices, this limited-release cuvée blends reserve stocks from top-performing harvests. The result is a uniquely complex Cornish red that harmonises bright British fruit intensity with savoury, well-aged depth.
Why You'll Love It
This multi-vintage release offers a sophisticated alternative to single-year English red wines, benefiting from blended layers of matured oak-aged barrels and fresh primary fruit. Free from synthetic chemical treatments in the vineyard and crafted with minimal intervention in the winery, it strikes a wonderful balance between wild dark fruit aromatics and subtle earthy nuances. It is an exceptional choice for lovers of cool-climate red wines who appreciate refined structure, complexity, and artisanal craftsmanship.
Vineyard & Production
The grapes, incorporating early-ripening Pinot Noir Précoce clones, are sustainably grown on south-facing Cornish slopes nourished by maritime air and well-draining soils. To preserve natural vineyard biodiversity, no herbicides are used on the estate. The fruit is hand-harvested at optimal ripeness before undergoing careful fermentation. The winemaker expertly blends select parcels from exceptional vintages that have aged in French oak barrels, allowing the wine to build soft, integrated tannins, rich textural weight, and tertiary complexity prior to bottling.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it presents a luminous ruby colour with garnet undertones. The nose is rich and multi-layered, revealing enticing aromas of Morello cherries, poached plums, dried figs, and prunes, alongside delicate accents of vanilla and worn leather. On the palate, it is supple, medium-bodied, and deliciously textured, unfolding flavours of dark chocolate, crushed black pepper, tobacco leaf, and ripe stalks, supported by a gentle line of earthy minerality and fine, rounded tannins on the finish.
Perfect Pairings
Thanks to its savoury depth, fine tannin profile, and vibrant acidity, this Cornish Pinot Noir is an outstanding partner for rich, slow-cooked dishes and artisanal meats. It pairs magnificently with roast fillet of beef, slow-braised lamb shanks, roasted duck breast, or venison loin. It is also a brilliant companion to wild mushroom tagliatelle, earth-driven vegetable stews, and mature British cheeses such as Gruyère or aged Cheddar.
