Taylor’s Chip Dry is a pioneering dry white aperitif Port, made predominantly from the Malvasia Fina grape alongside other traditional white varieties. The wine is crafted using the classic Port vinification method, with brandy added later in fermentation to preserve a crisp, dry finish while maintaining subtle fruit sweetness. Each component is matured separately in oak vats for four to five years before careful blending to create balance, elegance, and complexity.

Meet the producer

Taylor’s has been producing high-quality Ports since the 17th century. Renowned for innovation, the house introduced Chip Dry in 1934, establishing the benchmark for dry white aperitif Ports. Taylor’s combines centuries of expertise with meticulous oak ageing to create refined, versatile wines.

Production

The wine undergoes partial fermentation before fortification, preserving freshness while achieving its signature dry character. After 4–5 years in oak vats, the individual wines are blended to harmonise fruit, acidity, and subtle oak influence.

Tasting notes

Pale straw in colour, the nose displays fresh fruit aromas with gentle oak and nutty undertones. The palate is crisp, lively, and elegant, with a dry finish and delicate complexity that makes it both refreshing and versatile.

Food match

Ideal served chilled as a stylish aperitif with marinated olives or salted almonds. Also excellent mixed with tonic water for a refreshing summer cocktail, garnished with mint or lemon.
