Taylor’s 2007 Vintage Port is a powerful and refined fortified wine from Portugal’s Douro Valley, crafted in a declared vintage year known for exceptional quality and balance. The wine is produced from grapes grown on Taylor’s three renowned estates—Quinta de Vargellas, Quinta de Terra Feita and Quinta do Junco—each contributing depth, structure and aromatic complexity.

The 2007 vintage followed a cool, wet winter that replenished water reserves, with a mild summer and ideal ripening conditions in early September. This allowed for slow, even maturation of the grapes, resulting in a wine of great concentration and finesse. The fruit was foot-trodden in traditional lagares and fermented in small batches to preserve purity and intensity. After fermentation, the wine was aged in seasoned oak vats before bottling, where it continues to develop in bottle for decades.

Production

Taylor’s 2007 Vintage Port is a blend of Touriga Nacional and other indigenous Douro varieties, selected for their richness and ageing potential. The wine was vinified using traditional methods and bottled unfiltered to retain its full character. It forms a natural deposit and should be decanted before serving.

Tasting notes

Opaque purple in colour with a narrow violet rim, the nose reveals dense blackcurrant and woodland fruit aromas, layered with herbal nuances, violet and rose petals. The palate is full-bodied and opulent, offering flavours of cassis, dark plum and spice, supported by firm tannins and vibrant acidity. The finish is long and structured, with notes of pepper, clove and nutmeg lingering on the palate.

Food match

Pairs beautifully with blue-veined cheeses, walnuts, dried figs and rich chocolate desserts. Also excellent with roasted meats and game.
