Siesta is the personal project of renowned Argentine winemaker Ernesto Catena, whose biodynamic philosophy and artistic sensibility shape every wine he produces. The Single Vineyard Cabernet Franc showcases the purity, elegance and quiet power that this variety can achieve at altitude in Mendoza.

Viticulture

Sourced from high‑altitude vineyards in the Uco Valley, the fruit benefits from intense sunlight, cool night-time temperatures and well‑drained alluvial soils. Biodynamic farming underpins the entire project, with Catena prioritising soil vitality, biodiversity and natural balance. The vines are tended with minimal intervention, following lunar and seasonal rhythms to encourage healthy growth and expressive fruit.

Winemaking

Grapes are hand‑harvested at optimal ripeness and fermented with native yeasts to preserve the vineyard’s character. Gentle extraction techniques are used to highlight Cabernet Franc’s aromatic finesse rather than sheer power. Ageing takes place in French oak barrels, adding subtle structure and complexity without overshadowing the varietal purity.

Tasting Note

Bright ruby in colour. Aromas of redcurrant, raspberry, dried herbs and graphite, with a hint of floral lift. The palate is refined and medium‑bodied, offering silky tannins, fresh acidity and a long, savoury finish that reflects both the grape and its mountain origins.
