Shingleback Single Vineyard wines are crafted from specific vineyard parcels within the Davey Estate farm, highlighting the unique influence of soil on the wine. These wines capture the authentic character and enduring essence of the McLaren Vale region in South Australia.

Vineyards

The fruit for this wine is sourced from a single vineyard, allowing a precise expression of site and terroir. The vineyard’s soils and microclimate contribute to the depth, complexity, and structure of the Shiraz.

Winemaking

The grapes are fermented in open fermenters with controlled pump-overs to gently extract colour and flavour while avoiding bitter tannins. After pressing, the wine is matured in oak—10% new hogsheads, of which 70% are French oak and 30% American oak, with the balance aged in older French barrels for 12 months. Individual barrel selection ensures a carefully crafted and harmonious final blend.

Tasting Note

Deep red with hints of purple, the wine expresses intense aromas of blackberry, dark plum, and violet, layered with mocha, black pepper, and subtle oak. On the palate, it is rich and full-bodied, with fine tannins, balanced acidity, and a long, elegant finish—a true reflection of the vineyard and region.

Pairs beautifully with roast chicken, pancetta, preserved lemon, and other rich, savoury dishes.
