Meet the Vineyard
The 2024 vintage sourced grapes from Seifried’s Redwood Valley and Brightwater Vineyards. Brightwater, located 15km from the coast and sheltered by the Richmond ranges, is planted in extremely stony soils that limit vigour and encourage low yields, producing intensely flavoured Gewürztraminer. The unirrigated Redwood Valley vineyard lies on gently sloping, north-facing clay, with vines aged 10–30 years, optimally exposed to sunlight for maximum ripeness and aromatic intensity.

Vintage & Winemaking
2024 was an outstanding vintage in Nelson. Despite a severe spring frost at Brightwater, the growing season was hot and dry, resulting in perfectly ripened, pristine fruit. Gewürztraminer grapes were hand-harvested in mid-March, de-stemmed, and allowed brief skin contact before pressing. The clear juice underwent a cool, temperature-controlled fermentation with pure yeast, followed by maturation on yeast lees. The wine was then racked, blended, clarified, stabilised, and bottled in May 2024.

Tasting Notes
The 2024 Gewürztraminer shows a bright, aromatic nose with notes of roses, ginger beer, lychee, mango, pineapple, and pear drop. The palate is succulent and flavoursome, with tangerine, Turkish Delight, and tropical fruit characters, balanced by vibrant acidity and a clean finish. This wine is perfectly expressive of classic Nelson Gewürztraminer style, combining richness with freshness.
