Sauvion (Château du Cléray) is a Loire producer focused on terroir-driven wines from Saumur and neighbouring appellations, combining careful vineyard work with traditional winemaking to highlight Cabernet Franc’s aromatic clarity and elegance.

Production

Grapes are sourced from clay and limestone sites with gravelly subsoils, hand-harvested and vinified to preserve primary fruit aromas. Fermentation is temperature-controlled to retain freshness, with moderate extraction and gentle élevage to achieve a plush texture while maintaining structural balance.

Tasting notes

Bright ruby with purple flashes, the bouquet opens with red berries, raspberry and wild strawberry, plus floral hints of violet. The palate is juicy and generous, showing ripe red-fruit flavours, soft tannins, a subtle mineral seam and a smooth, lingering finish.
