Santa Tresa Rina Russa is a vibrant expression of Frappato, Vittoria’s most iconic grape variety, crafted to showcase its typicity and elegance. “Rina Russa,” meaning “red sand” in Sicilian dialect, reflects both the vineyard’s unique soils and the wine’s bright, ruby-red character. Light, fresh, and aromatic, it perfectly balances silky fruit with lively acidity and a long, refreshing finish.

Meet the Producer

Santa Tresa is a Sicilian winery committed to producing wines that express the island’s distinctive terroir. Winemaker Stefano Chioccioli combines traditional varietals with modern techniques, crafting wines that highlight the character of each estate-grown grape, including exclusive vineyard clones developed on site.

Production

Grapes are hand-picked in small 15kg containers at the end of September to preserve their integrity. After chilling overnight at 6–8°C, the grapes are gently destemmed and lightly crushed. Fermentation occurs at 18–22°C over 10–12 days, followed by natural malolactic fermentation.

Maturation

After fermentation, the wine is aged on fine lees in stainless steel tanks for four to six months with regular stirring (bâtonnage), enhancing texture and complexity while maintaining freshness and vibrant fruit expression.

Tasting Notes

Rina Russa displays a light cherry-red colour with a fresh and aromatic bouquet reminiscent of wild strawberries. The palate is silky and balanced, with lively acidity, vibrant fruit, and a surprisingly long, elegant finish.

Food Match

A versatile red, best served at 18–20°C with cured meats, cheeses, or light meats. For traditional Sicilian pairings, serve slightly cooler at 14–16°C with fish dishes such as tuna, swordfish, or blue fish.
