If ever there was a wine that tasted of the soil in which it was grown, this is it! Philippe Girard's Silex Sancerre opens with a sensational energetic nose of ripe citrus and earthy stoney notes. 

Meet the producer
Domaine Michel Girard et Fils comprises 21 hectares of vineyards across 30 parcels, with vines averaging 15 years old, producing precise, terroir-driven Sauvignon Blanc.

Production
This wine is sourced exclusively from two exceptional vineyards planted on Silex (flint) soils. Grapes from old vines are hand-picked and gently pressed, with fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Winemaker Philippe Girard crafted the wine, and the blend was selected with Boutinot to highlight the distinctive Silex terroir and character.

Tasting notes
Opens with cool stone and earthy aromas. The palate is lively and expressive with pronounced minerality, subtle notes of gunsmoke, clean citrus acidity, and a hint of stone fruit, finishing long and persistent.

Food match
Decant before serving to release full aromatic potential. Pairs beautifully with shellfish, river fish such as trout or zander, or classic crottin goat cheeses.
