Pyros Single Vineyard Block No. 4 Malbec is a striking expression of high-altitude terroir from the remote Pedernal Valley in San Juan. Meet the producer

Pyros Wines was founded with the vision of showcasing the singular character of the Pedernal Valley — one of Argentina’s most distinctive viticultural areas. The estate is part of Salentein Family of Wines and is recognised for its commitment to sustainability, precision viticulture, and minimal intervention winemaking. Each wine reflects the valley’s extreme altitude, pure air, and limestone-rich soils, resulting in remarkable structure and longevity.

Production

Grapes are hand-harvested from Block No. 4 of the Pyros Vineyard. After a careful selection, fermentation takes place in small stainless steel tanks with regular pump-overs to extract colour and fine tannins. The wine is then aged for 12 months in French oak barrels (50% new), followed by an additional 6 months of bottle ageing before release.

Tasting notes

Deep violet in colour, this Malbec opens with complex aromas of blackberry, cassis, and violet, interwoven with subtle notes of graphite, spice, and flint. The palate is concentrated yet refined, with layers of black fruit, fine-grained tannins, and a distinctive mineral edge that reflects the vineyard’s rocky soils. The finish is long, elegant, and persistent.
