In the heel of Italy, Manduria is celebrated as the birthplace of the native Primitivo grape, but it also produces outstanding white wines from native varietals like Verdeca and Fiano. Produttori di Manduria has been crafting high-quality wines for decades, combining traditional practices with meticulous vineyard management. Their Elegia Verdeca, made from old bush vines, showcases the unique character of Manduria’s terroir with expressive aromas, vibrant freshness, and exceptional balance.

Winemaking

Fermentation takes place off the skins under controlled temperatures (15°C), followed by rapid ageing in stainless steel tanks to preserve the freshness, aromatic intensity, and minerality of the wine before bottling.

Tasting Note

Elegia Verdeca opens with delicate aromas of hawthorn and acacia, complemented by notes of cedar, yellow grapefruit, and subtle mineral and saline nuances. The palate is fresh, savory, and well-balanced, finishing with citrusy brightness and lingering floral notes.

Viticulture

Grapes are picked from 15- to 20-year-old espalier-trained vines at the end of August, yielding approximately 100 quintals (10,000 kg) per hectare.

Food Matching

Pairs beautifully with Caprese salad, baked seabass with lemon potatoes, seabream carpaccio, and golden deep-fried anchovies.
