An approachable and vibrant red from South Africa’s Western Cape, Primordial Red Blend NV captures the essence of classical cultivars in their most accessible form. Inspired by the illustrations of German naturalist Ernst Haeckel and the ancient maritime caves of Pinnacle Point, this wine combines history, science, and art. Carefully selected Cinsault and Shiraz grapes are whole-bunch pressed and fermented under controlled conditions, then partially treated via a spinning cone column to balance alcohol while preserving aromatic intensity, producing a fresh, sappy, and intensely youthful wine.

Boutinot South Africa is driven by a passion for discovery and a desire to capture the true character of South African vineyards in their wines.

Production
Cinsault and Shiraz grapes are harvested from the Western Cape and whole-bunch pressed. Fermentation is carefully controlled, followed by malolactic fermentation. A portion of the blend is passed through a spinning cone column to gently reduce alcohol while retaining volatile aroma compounds, then reintegrated to create a balanced wine of approximately 11.2% ABV.

Tasting notes
Bright, youthful aromas of fresh red berries with hints of summer pudding. The palate is fresh and sappy, showing crushed Morello cherries and a cranberry tang, finishing with a touch of spice. A crunchy, approachable young red.
