A rich and ripe yet elegant wine, the Cave de Turckheim Grand Cru Brand Pinot Gris 2017 offers remarkable versatility across a wide range of dishes. Sourced from the dry granite soils of the Grand Cru Brand vineyard, which benefit from exceptional sun exposure and naturally low yields, this wine combines opulent ripeness with refined structure. Winemaker Michel Lihrmann carefully hand-harvests, pneumatically presses, and ferments the grapes under temperature-controlled conditions, with no fining and minimal filtration, preserving the wine’s naturally aromatic and complex fruit character.

Widely regarded as one of the best co-operatives in the world, Cave de Turckheim lies at the mouth of the Munster Valley, producing wines that showcase the elegance and typicity of Alsace’s Grand Cru terroirs.

Production
The Brand vineyard, whose name comes from the German word for ‘fire’, enjoys a southerly aspect that ensures high levels of sunshine, ripeness, and richness in the grapes. Cave de Turckheim maintains low cropping levels well below the appellation’s maximum. The grapes are hand-harvested, pressed using pneumatic presses, and fermented under controlled temperatures. The wine is un-fined and lightly filtered to retain its naturally aromatic character.

Tasting notes
Aromas of buttery honey and a dusting of exotic spice lead to a palate of butterscotch, warm spice, and freshly baked glazed apricot tart. The mid-palate is nicely weighted, balanced by a lift of silky lime acidity, producing an elegant and harmonious finish.
