Sadly, the entire Phillips of Bristol cordial range was discontinued in 2020, leaving a gap in the market for this historic and much-loved drink. Today, it remains a nostalgic favourite among those who grew up with its distinctive herbal character and warming properties. Phillips of Bristol Lovage Cordial was a beloved British alcoholic cordial produced by J.R. Phillips, once Bristol’s oldest wine merchant, established in 1739. The Lovage cordial formed part of their Old English Cordials range, which also included flavours like Shrub, White Peppermint, and Aniseed. These cordials were originally developed for medicinal purposes—Lovage in particular was used to aid digestion and was often served in inns as a remedy for upset stomachs.
