Meet the Producer

Scheid Vineyards focuses on sustainable and environmentally conscious viticulture, producing wines that reflect the character of their Californian terroir. Their estate is 100% wind powered and 100% sustainably farmed, ensuring quality and ecological responsibility in every bottle.

Production

Fruit is carefully sorted, destemmed and crushed before fermentation in stainless steel tanks at warm temperatures. Gentle punch downs are performed several times daily to extract colour and flavour. Once fermentation is complete, the wine is pressed and allowed to settle before racking for oak ageing. The wine is aged for 10 months in French oak with 25% new barrels, imparting delicate notes of vanilla and toast while enhancing structure and complexity.

Tasting Notes

Bright ruby in colour with aromas of black cherry and plum, and red cherry and raspberry on the palate. Soft mocha and toasted oak notes complement the fruit, while silky tannins and a persistent red fruit finish provide elegance and balance.

Pairs beautifully with BBQ pulled pork, roasted chicken, mild sausages, stuffed mushrooms and other casual or hearty dishes. Also excellent with pizza or burgers.
