Musar Jeune Red comes from organically certified vineyards in the western Bekaa Valley. Harvested in late August and early September, this wine is part of the Musar Jeune range, which includes white and rosé wines produced from younger vines at 1,000 metres above sea level. Uninfluenced by oak, these wines display classic Musar character and are best enjoyed in their youth. The 2021 vintage benefited from a stable and consistent climate, resulting in an elegant, fragrant wine with excellent potential.

Viticulture

Pruning and ploughing began in December 2020, followed by a rainy and snowy January and February. Early April was cold, warming by mid-month, and rain on 1 May encouraged early vine growth. June remained mild, allowing flowering to occur under ideal conditions. July brought the hottest month of the year, helping grapes reach veraison and develop vibrant colour in the red varieties.

Grape Varieties

Cinsault 50%, Syrah 35%, Cabernet Sauvignon 15%
Vineyards vary in age and soil type, with the Syrah showing exceptional intensity and character. Tarek Sakr notes: “We’ve never before experienced a Syrah grape of such strength and unforgettable palate imprint. Aromas of violet and mango dominated fermentation—this is a Syrah we won’t forget.”

Winemaking

Grapes were fermented in concrete vats at 27–29°C. The wines were blended in March 2022 and rested in the vats until bottling in the summer of 2022. Musar Jeune Red is unfiltered and follows a non-interventionist winemaking philosophy.

Tasting Notes

Deep purple-beetroot in colour, with aromas and flavours dominated by red fruits such as strawberries and cherries. Unoaked, the wine shows savoury, earthy depth with hints of spice and black pepper. Elegant and layered, it is designed for early enjoyment but has the potential to develop further with careful ageing.
