Mendel Malbec represents the pinnacle of Malbec expression from Mendoza, Argentina. Grown on carefully selected parcels, many from vines averaging 45 years old, this wine showcases the typical aromas of ripe plums, raisins, and violets, coupled with full-bodied, meaty flavours and elegant structure.

Meet the producer

Mendel Wines blends the expertise of Roberto de la Mota, one of Argentina’s most respected winemakers, with the tradition of a well-established Argentine family, producing wines that reflect the unique terroir of Luján de Cuyo and Agrelo.

Production

Hand-harvested grapes are sorted and 100% destemmed, with manual berry selection. Fermentation and maceration take place in a combination of concrete and 80-hectolitre tanks, with daily manual pigeage for around two weeks. The wine then spends 12 months ageing in new and used American and French oak, with minimal filtration before bottling.

Tasting notes

Deep, rich ruby in colour, the nose reveals aromas of mature fruit, plums, raisins, and violet. The palate is full-bodied and robust, with meaty, concentrated fruit flavours and a lingering, harmonious finish.
