Distillery & Production

Produced at Lagavulin Distillery on Islay, Scotland, in a bay guarded by the ruined castle of Dunyvaig. Barley malted over local peat smoke imbues Lagavulin with its rich mix of shoreline airs and scented, smoky dryness. The double maturation process involves initial ageing in refill American and European oak casks, followed by finishing in Pedro Ximénez-seasoned re-charred American oak with heavily re-charred new American oak ends. This careful cask selection perfectly matches the character of this exceptional Islay single malt.

Tasting Notes

Deep and expressive nose with aromas of dark oak and raisins doused in liquor, revealing the sweet wine cask that restrains the eager peat, wrapping fragrant smoke in grounded notes of oak and wine. The palate is full-bodied, oily, and sweet-spicy to start, delivering a fruity, raisin-sweet smokiness that is rich in dark intent and roasted malt.
