KWV The Mentors Orchestra is a sophisticated, Bordeaux-style blend from the Western Cape, harmoniously combining Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Malbec. The nose reveals blackcurrants, blueberries, plums, and black cherries, accented by subtle pencil shavings and dried herbs. On the palate, rich layers of fruit are supported by firm, structured tannins, delivering a complex and elegant finish. Like a finely tuned orchestra, each varietal contributes its distinct character, yet together they create a wine of extraordinary balance and depth.

Meet the Producer

KWV is one of South Africa’s leading wineries, renowned for producing premium wines that reflect the unique terroir of the Western Cape. The Mentors range showcases the winery’s most expressive varietals, crafted with meticulous care to highlight both power and finesse.

Production

Grapes are hand-harvested and carefully sorted in the KWV The Mentors cellar to ensure only the finest fruit is used. Fermentation is conducted separately for each variety, with careful monitoring to preserve aromatics and structure. Following the first selection, wines are transferred to French oak barrels for initial maturation. After 12 months, only the most promising lots continue for an additional six months of barrel ageing before blending.

Maturation

The final blend is matured for a total of 18 months in French oak barrels, 70% of which are first-fill, creating a wine with integrated tannins, polished texture, and exceptional complexity.

Deep ruby in colour, KWV The Mentors Orchestra opens with aromas of blackcurrants, blueberries, plums, and black cherries, enriched by hints of pencil shavings and dried herbs. The palate is layered and structured, with rich fruit, firm tannins, and a long, refined finish.
