Vin de Constance is one of the world’s most iconic sweet wines, crafted exclusively from Muscat de Frontignan grapes grown in the cool, coastal Constantia region of South Africa. The wine is renowned for its perfect balance of sugar, acidity, and alcohol, while retaining freshness and expressing the unique soils and climate of Klein Constantia. Hand-harvested in multiple batches to capture a range of flavours and ripeness, the grapes are carefully fermented and aged in a combination of new French oak, acacia barrels, and large format foudres before final blending and bottling. The result is a rich, layered sweet wine of remarkable elegance and longevity.

Klein Constantia is a historic estate in South Africa, famed for reviving the legendary sweet wines of Constantia from the 1700s. The estate combines centuries-old winemaking knowledge with modern techniques, producing wines of unparalleled finesse and ageability.

Production

Grapes are hand-picked over multiple passes to achieve optimal ripeness and acidity. After fermentation, the wine is aged for three years in 50% new French oak, acacia barrels, and large foudres. Detailed blending ensures the perfect balance between alcohol, acidity, and sweetness, creating a wine with depth, complexity, and elegance.

Tasting notes

Bright yellow-gold in colour, the nose reveals Seville marmalade, ginger spice, grapefruit, and subtle floral notes. The palate is rich and luxurious, full-bodied yet fresh, with a perfect harmony of salinity, acidity, spice, and sweetness. Concentrated with suspended density, it finishes with pithy astringency and remarkable length, leaving a lingering, vibrant impression.
