Herdade do Peso, Trinca Bolotas Alentejo Tinto 2023 is an expressive red from the Vidígueira sub-region of Alentejo, Portugal, where cool Atlantic breezes and rolling limestone hills create ideal conditions for elegant wines. The grapes—Touriga Nacional, Alicante Bouschet, and Aragonês—are hand-harvested at optimal ripeness and gently fermented in stainless steel tanks, with a short maceration and malolactic fermentation. The wine is aged in stainless steel to preserve freshness, resulting in a bright, ruby-red wine with vibrant red fruit aromas, supple texture, and a clean, balanced finish.

Herdade do Peso, part of the Sogrape group since 1996, covers 457 hectares in Alentejo and combines traditional practices with precision viticulture. Winemaker Luís Cabral de Almeida crafts wines that reflect the estate’s unique soils, climate, and rolling vineyards, focusing on interpreting nature with elegance and expression.

Production

Grapes are harvested from sustainably farmed vineyards across 12 soil types, predominantly limestone. After gentle destemming and crushing, the grapes undergo a 3–4 day maceration before fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Following malolactic fermentation, the wine is racked off the skins and aged in stainless steel to preserve purity, freshness, and aromatic expression.

Tasting notes

Bright ruby in colour, with aromas of strawberries, raspberries, and red fruits. On the palate, the wine is vibrant and supple, with elegant structure, balanced acidity, and a smooth, clean finish.
