Glenkinchie Distillers Edition 2008 is a refined Lowland single malt Scotch whisky, double matured in Amontillado sherry casks to enhance its delicate character with layers of dry fruit and spice.

Distilled in 2008 and bottled in 2020, this special edition from Glenkinchie—Edinburgh’s closest distillery—offers a unique twist on its traditionally light and floral style. After initial maturation in standard oak casks, the whisky undergoes a second aging period in Amontillado sherry-seasoned American oak, adding depth and complexity to its elegant profile.

On the nose, it presents crisp vanilla and soft grape notes, balanced by sweet nuttiness from the malted barley and cask wood. The palate begins with biscuit-like sweetness, quickly giving way to dry, spicy malt character and subtle grapey fruitiness. The influence of the sherry cask is evident in the rich dried fruit tones, including raisin and date, which are complemented by warming wood spice. The texture is creamy-smooth, with a lightly oily mouthfeel that transitions into a dry, oaky finish. Hints of white pepper and late caramel add a final touch of complexity.
