Glendalough Wild Rose Irish Gin began as a deeply personal act of love. Head Distiller Ciaran "Rowdy" Rooney first made it to honour his mother Rose, who had recently passed away, at his little brother's wedding. This was his way to have her there in spirit. Carefully-tended flowers from her rose garden are vapour distilled alongside wild roses and plants from the mountains around the distillery. After distilling, the gin is further infused with even more roses to deepen the flavours and give it its beautiful natural pink hue.

Every single batch carries roses from that garden. It is a gin made with grief, love, and craft in equal measure.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Bright lemon and blood orange, soft juniper notes, deeply aromatic and perfumed with fresh rose. Palate: Distinct rose petal, bright berries, Turkish Delight, citrus with a nectar sweetness. Finish: Long finish with floral notes lingering alongside pink peppercorn and a touch of earthy spice.

Cocktail: Rose and Raspberry Fizz

Shake 50ml of Glendalough Wild Rose Irish Gin, 15ml of raspberry syrup, 15ml of lemon juice, and 15ml of Aperol in a shaker with ice. Strain into a highball glass, top with soda water, and garnish with a raspberry and a freshly torn sprig of mint.
