Distillery & Maturation

Glencadam distillery has been producing whisky in Brechin in the Eastern Highlands since 1825. Origin is a small batch marriage of carefully selected Glencadam malts that have matured in American oak ex-bourbon casks and Spanish oak Oloroso Sherry casks. The combination of these two cask types creates a whisky that is sweet and spicy, floral and fruity, with a complexity that makes it far more interesting than its gentle 40% ABV might suggest.

Tasting Notes

The nose is creamy and floral, with malted barley and hints of vanilla welcoming an arrival of mixed summer fruits. On the palate, sweet and lively with banana, pineapple, pear, and boiled sweets merging with a delicious mix of soft spice. The finish is floral and clean, with a lingering pear-drop sweetness. Best enjoyed neat or with a splash of water.
