Glen Elgin 12 Year Old Single Malt Whisky is a classic Speyside dram known for its honeyed sweetness, fruity depth and subtle spice, making it a hidden gem among single malts.

Produced at the Glen Elgin Distillery, which dates back to 1898 and sits just south of Elgin in the heart of Speyside, this 12-year-old expression is the distillery’s flagship bottling. It is crafted using traditional methods, including six stills and wooden worm tubs, which contribute to its rich and rounded character. Matured in a mix of ex-bourbon and sherry casks, it offers a balanced profile that appeals to both seasoned whisky drinkers and those new to single malts.

On the nose, Glen Elgin 12 Year Old opens with sweet marzipan, orange juice and a trace of sawn wood. A few drops of water reveal nut oil, buttery fat and fresh pears, with a faint hint of smoke or steam. The palate begins sweetish, then turns dry with a touch of acidity, all well balanced. Flavours of fruitcake, honey and almonds emerge, often earning it the nickname “fruitcake in a bottle.” The finish is dry and spicy, with lingering notes of sweet wood and marzipan that fade gently.
