Viticulture

The Riserva Primitivo is sourced from 35-50 year-old vines, grown in both alberello (bush vine) and espalier training systems. Harvest takes place in mid-September, with yields averaging 60 quintals per hectare, ensuring concentration and intensity in the grapes.

Winemaking

Fermentation is temperature-controlled at 25°C and includes a two-week maceration to extract colour, tannin, and flavour. The wine is then matured for 12 months in French Allier oak barriques, a portion of which are new, imparting subtle oak complexity and structure.

Tasting Notes

Elegia displays a bright ruby red colour with garnet highlights. The nose is intense and complex, with aromas of ripe raspberry, blackberry, and plum jam complemented by spicy, vanilla, and balsamic nuances. On the palate, it is dry, warm, and soft, with fine tannins and a persistent finish, all enhanced by the toasted oak character.
