Meet the Producer

Domaine de la Motte is a family‑run estate in the village of Beine, where the Michaut family has been crafting Chablis for generations. Known for their meticulous vineyard work and commitment to expressing terroir, they produce wines that balance modern precision with traditional Burgundian sensibility. Their old‑vine cuvées are particularly admired for their concentration, finesse and authentic sense of place.

Production

Grapes from old Chardonnay vines are harvested at optimal ripeness and sorted carefully before gentle pressing. Fermentation takes place at cool temperatures to preserve delicate aromatics, with a portion of the wine aged in older oak barrels to add subtle roundness and complexity without overshadowing the mineral core. Extended ageing on fine lees enhances texture and depth, resulting in a Chablis that is both vibrant and beautifully layered.

Tasting Notes

Pale gold in colour, the wine opens with aromas of citrus, green apple, white flowers and a distinctive flinty minerality. The palate is crisp, precise and elegantly structured, offering lemon, pear and subtle stone fruit supported by a fine chalky texture. Bright acidity and a long, saline finish underline its classic Chablis character.
