Ciel de Nuit is a luxurious, high-altitude Syrah from the Coteaux des Baronnies, a little-known appellation tucked high in the mountains above the Rhone Valley, overlooking the vineyards of Cotes du Rhone Villages and Vinsobres. Produced by Boutinot, this is a Syrah of remarkable freshness and concentration, crafted from small-yield mountain vines that few producers have thought to explore.

The Coteaux des Baronnies is better known for its spectacularly clear night sky, so much so that there is an observatory up there, than for its vineyards. That obscurity works in the wine's favour.
